Meet San Diego Events Co. Intern Rojin

Rojin Vafaeian

University of San Diego, Studying Communications and Business

Rojin’s Hometown and Why She Loves It:

I have lived in Irvine, California since I was five. I love Irvine because it’s almost always sunny. I feel like it was a great place to grow up in because it offers a multitude of activities for people of all ages. My favorite thing about living in Irvine was how close I was to everything like the beach, mountains and of course the mall. You won’t find a dull sunset in Irvine!

Rojin’s Hobbies:

I love painting, making home made decor for my apartment, and going on cruises. I have been all over Europe, Mexico, and Hawaii. I also love trying new restaurants. It’s a hobby of mine to travel just to try different foods. During the winter, I love snowboarding and hiking in the mountains! I have been going snowboarding every Christmas since I was six years old, so it has become one of my favorite things to do. I also love shopping for unique rings! I will try and get a ring every time I travel.

Rojin is most looking forward to working with SDEC because:

I am very excited to work for SDEC because I know it’s the right place to broaden my knowledge in the industry as an intern. I can't wait to get a hands on experience when it comes to planning events. I love how SDEC plans an extremely broad range of events and I cant wait to learn how each event is beautifully executed. I love how SDEC pays great attention to detail and I know working here will help me learn the necessary skills I need to be successful in the event planning industry!

Rojin’s Hidden Talent:

My hidden talent is getting creative with color and pattern arrangements. I love putting different linens with unique table decor as well as arranging floral bouquets. I would say that working with flowers is one of my strong suits because I have an interesting perspective on design. I also love designing decor incorporating interesting colors and shapes, as well as hand making customs cards showcasing unique  textures and designs.

Rojin’s Superpower:

If I could have any superpower it would be to have the power to control peoples emotions. I would be able to help anxious brides and corporate heads relax. It’s always hard for people to trust that their events will turn out just as they expected and they stress about it when they really should be enjoying their special day. It would be nice to help people in that way.

Rojin’s Dream Wedding:

My dream wedding would be at the Rancho Las Lomas (this is where I fell in love with wedding planning). My ceremony would be at the El Teatro venue followed by dinner and a seven tiered white and blush colored cake in the Grand Salon. My favorite visual aspect about weddings are the florals and table décor, therefor my wedding would have numerous white, light pink, and maroon flower centerpieces with glass table settings and white crisp linens. The chairs would be a dark cherry wood and the room would be lit in various colors. My bridesmaids would wear light pink colored dresses and the groomsmen would wear matching bow ties. I would love for my wedding to be extravagant and a night for everyone to remember!

Rojin’s Ultimate Career Goal:

My ultimate career goal would be to own my own event planning company that also does PR for the client's events. I would love to stay in California in either San Diego or Orange County to follow my dreams!

Why Rojin Recommends San Diego as THE Destination for Events:

If you wanted a beach event, San Diego offers a variety of beautiful beaches as well as several exquisite hotels! There is a lot of history in San Diego and it’s all known for its beauty. From the Coronado Hotel, Gaslamp District, Little Italy to Downtown and Del Mar, San Diego offers the perfect place for everyone and adds a unique touch to every special event!
